KOLMEO

From the moment I started this project things felt different, the leadership team were highly engaging, however ⁠I was at a lose for the first time as to how to complete what needed to be done.

This was the fastest deployment cycle I had been apart of and it was cool.
So many highly skilled developers coming together as an orchestra pumping out the code.
I just needed to level up my skills & take initiative to get things done.

Once I was up and running the code base seemed to be growing quickly. However we started all butting heading with the deployment schedule keep our local code base up to day while deploying new features.

Soon enough we all got together & fleshed out a new strategy having one person only focus on deployment.. At first all our problems were solved.. Until the task became to overwhelming, we needed a new strategy.

After investigating the problem, the issue wasn't the deployment at all it was to do with the pre-deployment pipeline & how we were testing & configuring our code before deploying it. Once resolved this process really improved our flow.

This highlighted how strong communication can lead to great outcomes, empowering me to focus on strong communication to this day.

Taking on the bulk payments feature was a true test of my ability.
I took the feature over from another developer & had to focus on how to reduce code debt while building the feature inline with the rest of the code base patterns.

This feature really captivated me as I connected with the value it brought to the business & customers. Enabling them to see the process of all payments in one place to resolve any issues where money was blocked.

Kolmeo

My time at Kolmeo demonstrated how HR can lead change in a business. We had an issue where every meeting was productivity driven with little banter. This brought down the enthusiasm of the team. To resolve this problem the HR team created a bunch of themes to get everyone talking. We presented the theme as a background image on Zoom then got to speak about it from our perspective. This helped the teams to engage more & talk about interest outside of Kolmeo.

Immediately the everyone had more empathy & connection to each other!
This taught me a lot about the importance of culture & putting people before profit.

Towards the end of my contract the leadership team amazed me by pivoting the focus of the entire company. Leading up to this we were all striving to improve the offering of Kolmeo however if we were ask what is our main goal at Kolmeo we would all give a different answer.

To solve this problem we all came together as one & spending time focusing on the purpose & direction of Kolmeo. The goal was to give the team a north start to aim towards. it didn't matter how we wanted to get there as long as we were going in the right direction. We sought advice from different departments within Kolmeo to guide us in their priorities to enable us to factor that in during our own feature planning.

it was incredible to be apart of Kolmeo during their launch phase & I look forward to working with them into the future.
